By acclaimed garden designer Joe Francis. The inspiration for the garden came from Joe’s personal experience of depression and suicidal thoughts. Joe has teamed up with Maytree, a National charity that supports adults who are contemplating and feeling suicidal.
The aim of the garden is to raise awareness about mental health and suicide, to highlight the importance of creating peace and tranquillity in our everyday lives so that we are better equipped to deal with the challenges of modern life.
The external aspect of the garden is a hard hitting reminder of the challenges people, communities and society face, from knife crime, climate change, over consumption, to war and death.
The internal part of the garden is nature at its best, a calm, tranquil, restorative space where we can quieten our mind and build our resilience.
