Homebase 'Sowing the Seeds of Change' Garden

Adam Frost has created The Homebase Garden entitled 'Sowing the seeds of Change' in association with the Alzheimer's Society with the overall aim of encouraging people to be more engaged with the great outdoors.

The garden, which will be the sixth that Adam has designed at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, is a modern family garden, providing not only an environment where people can enjoy a connection to food and nature, but also an outdoor space where they can spend time with family and friends.

This year, Adam is keen to show people how to reconnect with nature in their own back gardens with features including 'wildlife walls' and ornamental edibles to attract a range of inhabitants, with the hope of helping the next generation to interact with the outdoors.

And it seems the garden does play a pivotal role in helping younger people connect with nature. New research by Homebase, shows that 43% of children spend a great deal of time playing in their garden, with one in five naming the garden as their favourite place to be within the home.

But with the report also revealing that children tend to lose interest in gardening as they grow up, Frost is eager to help change this, with the aim of creating a space to engage, whatever your age.

Adam is available to talk about his preparations and answer questions from gardeners of all levels on how to make sure their gardens are looking beautiful this summer, his inspiration for this year's garden and why he believes gardens are such a powerful point of connection for adults and children alike.
