Just Retirement Garden

The Just Retirement Garden is designed by award-winning designer Tracy Foster. ‘A garden for every retiree’ is an everyday garden that reflects the differing needs of retirees in the UK today and shows just how enjoyable retirement, and gardening, can be.

The garden is designed for people, who, in later life, may not have lots of money, gardening experience or space, but want to use their garden for a range of purposes, from entertaining friends and family, to staying fit and healthy and giving nature a helping hand.

Features such as raised beds show that gardening can be accessible, and that planting vegetables can encourage a healthy diet, whilst saving money.

To help bring the show garden together, Tracy was joined by a team of volunteers who were either past retirement age and still working, nearing retirement and planning for it, career changers and part-timers, or retired and loving it. Some of the volunteers have raised seeds for the show garden in their own greenhouses, while others have hand-made the patchwork cushions. Many were also on site to help Tracy with the planting and finishing touches too.
