By garden designer Judi Samuels. This border is all about the scent! As each plant brings their own individual perfume with flowers and leaves to delight your senses all summer long. This is a border perfect for pollinators to feast on by providing important nectar and pollen.
The lavender hedge around the border creates the most exquisitely scented hedge, which is a fun way to create a semi-formal feel and it will also act as a pollinator magnet. The combination of plants means that the border has something to offer across all the seasons and even in the cold grey of January, there is the cheerful and delicious scent of Chimonanthus praecox var. Luteus (Wintersweet).
Spring brings out the Crocuses, Daffodils, Erysimum ‘Bowles Mauve’ and Hyacinths bringing much needed colour in early spring and throughout summer the roses will delight with their blooms and beautiful scents, planted within easy reach at the front of the border so that you can plunder the perfume each time you visit.
