"The Journey of Life” garden marks the birth of a new style of garden design “Poetic Gardens”, as identified by landscape designer and 2015 gold medal winner, Edward Mairis.
In his 22 Years of designing gardens, Edward Mairis has developed an ever-greater sense of how gardens are places of poetic beauty, where people connect with nature and with themselves in an intimate and sometimes intangible way. This is what he calls “Poetic Gardens”, where each garden is a ‘poem’.
Stand out features for visitors to look for include the “Rainbow Sun” a shimmering wall of sparkling acrylic and the “Ancient Olive” tree that represents an old soul and grows out of artificial rocks that look surreal. There are also refined Niwaki (giant Bonsai), a high-tech atrium, compelling GRP furniture and three hydroponic salad towers (How do they grow lettuce in a tower?) All in, it is a wonderland of colour, technology and rare art forms.
This design will not only spark your imagination and make you smile, but it captures the mood of all that is happening in the world. It is bursting with verve, interest and meaning, full of life. It has some high-tech features, with an ambience that is timeless, provocative and respectful.
Edward Mairis dares to take on the perennial question "what is the meaning of life?" and he hopes that every visitor will leave with an answer, feeling positive and good about life.
