Built by a team of young people, under the direction of Harry Turner and Chris Beardshaw, the garden has been designed to demonstrate world class standards in all aspects of planting and hard-landscaping skills.
Featuring woodland and a flowering meadow, a stockman's retreat and traditional walling, the build team are showcasing the skills they will be demonstrating when they compete as Team UK at WorldSkills London 2011 – the world's largest skills competition.
Taking place from 5 to 8 October the event will see over 1000 young people from around the world compete to be named the “best of the best” at their chosen skill.
This garden has been designed by Chris Beardshaw as a stylised exhibit that reflects the differing regions and habitats found across the UK. Four stone sculptures punctuate the exhibit and depict Evolution and Progression.
Adjacent to the garden there are “Have a Go” activities to encourage visitors to try out some of the skills on display.
