Designed by multi-award winning landscape architect Alan Gardner, ‘The Viking Ocean Cruises Show Garden’ celebrates the launch of Viking Cruises’ first ocean ship, the Viking Star.
Multiple polished surfaces reflect the glistening sea; planting flows throughout the space with blue and white flowers like crests of billowing waves as well as a bespoke sculpture.
Alan Gardner, also known for his starring role in Channel 4’s ‘The Autistic Gardener’, is the creator of 40 RHS show gardens, and has won numerous awards at not only Chelsea, but also Hampton Court and Tatton Park.
Alan said: “I enjoy taking inspiration for my gardens from a wide arrange of concepts, and taking cues from Vikings’ Nordic heritage has been a fantastic learning. The garden includes a steel sculpture embodying the embittered tale of Skadi, the Norse goddess of the mountains, and Njord, the god of the sea; as well as a glistening pool surrounded by a rough-cut piece of granite, symbolising dramatic cliffs hewn from rolling waves.”
