Biological control of carrot fly

A mix of pathogenic nematodes can be purchased from biological control suppliers. These microscopic organisms enter larvae bodies and infect them with a bacterial disease. These nematodes are not specific to carrot fly so will most likely kill other insects in the soil. Water this nematode mix on infected plants from late spring to early autumn.

Individual species of nematode are also available for carrot fly control. Steinernema feltiae is used for spring treatment, Steinernema carpocapsae is used for summer treatment.
