Chemical and organic control of snails

Slug and snail pellets containing the active ingredient ferric phosphate can be scattered thinly around susceptible plants including seedling, vegetables, and young shoots on perennials. In the UK, slug-controlling products containing metaldehyde are no longer available for the home garden.

Most plants, once established, will generally tolerate snail damage and control measures can be discontinued.
