Cultural control of cherry blackfly

Look for signs of early cherry blackfly infestations on new plant growth. Squash aphids between finger and thumb where practical. Use a gentle spray from a hosepipe or spray with watered down dishwashing liquid.

For ornamental cherries, select cultivars that are less susceptible to cherry blackfly.
