Earth-up when 'haulm' is 22 cm tall

When the green growth or 'haulm' is approx 22cm (9in) tall, 'earth up' the crop by breaking up the soil between rows, remove all weeds, and then using a hoe to build the soil up around the plants to form a flat-topped mound about 15 cm (6 in) tall.
