Manor Park

Manor Park

Garden description

This secluded garden in Nottingham would date from the early part of the last century. The house has a strong architectural style reminiscent of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and perhaps the early arts and craft movement. In the garden the retaining walls for raised beds are cobble and boulder style. The garden faces north and is split into two levels with different styles. Natural yorkstone is used for crazy paving paths and slab paving along with heavy duty old fashioned concrete flagstones. Access to the lower garden is through an arch and down very narrow steps. The lower garden is being reclaimed from a state of wilderness that pre-dates the current owners. There is an existing natural pond and the area gets much sunlight. The user garden is accessed from the house through different doors and down steps. There is a viewing shelter perched on top the retaining wall and patios.
