To feed or not to feed

Hi there,

My neighbour is a gardener and says i should feed my witch hazel when in bloom with a iron fertilizer. I checked this out on Shoot and there is no mention of feeding this lovely tree.

I dont want to do the wrong thing so can someone let me know what to do for the best?

    Hi, Paula,
    I have never heard of needing to feed Hamamelis with an iron ferilizer. Most advice I have come across says to feed/mulch in late winter/early spring. I did see one source that advised feeding with a general fertiliser throughout the growing season, but iron-rich fert was never mentioned. I never fed mine and it also looked gorgeous.
