Hmm well maybe it was a delayed reaction to the rain. We had a prolonged dry period, which was when the problem started. Hence why I thought it might be lack of water. Thanks
Seems like all daphnes suffered due to all the rain, they are tricky plants at the best of times, they love good drainage, my daphne odora is hanging in there, it looks a little ragged, even though the birches should be taking up all the water, they are close to 27 years old, that is good for a plant that is considered short lived.
My daphne, which was doing really well till about mid Summer, suddenly developed yellow mottling on it's leaves. I planted it last Autumn. Any ideas what this might be - could it have got too dry? though I'd have thought it would then have shed leaves, which it didn't. Virus? Any solutions?? thanks

Hi All - I have three Daphne's in large pots they have flowered wonderfully and looked healthy had them around three years. Problem is one of them is acting up a bit - it looks rather like its leaves are falling off but their not - "i know starnge but it's the only way i can explain it" it seems healthy enough and it does have a few berries on it - also im scared it might be pot bound - can anyone advise me further - thank you Keith
Thanks Kathy. It's only been in the ground for 1 1/2 years, and is about 3 feet tall. It hasn't flowered yet. Last year the leaves didn't yellow in this way. And it's just a few leaves. All the others are fine. And I may be over-reacting because my last attempt failed (I think because I planted a clematis too close to it. Paul
HI, Paul, How long ago did it stop flowering? It is not unusual for Daphnes to drop older leaves, particularly during flowering. Is there any pattern to the yellowing or is the entire leaf yellow? Any brown spots on the leaves? Kathy C
