i have several peonies both herbaceous and tree i think you may be a little bit late this year as my peonies are fairly well advanced. but i dont think it will do any harm to plant it in a container and see what happens they are fairly hardy plants and easy to grow if you do not get any flowers this year at least next year the plant will be more mature and should definitely bloom good luck
