Hi,I bought some cupressus but I don't want them to grow too tall, so was wondering if I could contain their size by planting them in pots, then submerging the pots in the soil. They are about 80cm (2.6 feet)tall now, and am wanting a final height of about 1m 50 (5ft). If this is possible, what pot size would you recommend? Or could I just cut off the growing tip when they reach the desired height?
Any other advice about restricting their size is most welcome.
Yes, I know any sane person would have just bought some dwarf conifers, but at E40 a pop I couldn't afford them. ;-)
Thank you.

Hi, Ellen, If they are turning brown from the bottom up, it could be the too wet conditions they experienced over the winter. If the brown is in patches it sounds more like an aphid or mite infestation. Kathy C
I have 2 trees that were planted end of last year. They Are in full sun, but we have had a bit of a problem with wind this year. As other plants grow up they will be more sheltered. We have lots of rain, so they could have become waterlogged, but nowthe ground has dried and is normal! Have they had too much or noe too little water? Or would this be wind damagefromearlier in the year? They are getting more brown patches, so I think it must be something to do with water.
Thanks
