It is a hypericum, if he is still standing one berry may have put him off, yews have the most poisonous fruit, my grandson ate a nandina berry and he is 19 to-day, but find out all the berries that should not be eaten.

Hi Nicola, a few different opinions on our social media. Take a look at each of these but perhaps if worried call NHS direct right away?

"Looks like Hypericum androsaemum. Berries are poisonous."

"Im quite sure it is hypericum"

    Thanks, Nicola

"That's St. John's wort or hypericum not 100% sure but I don't think it is, still worth checking out"

Another reply from a leading plant nursery:

"We think this is a Hypericum. We advise taking the child to hospital along with a sample and picture. Let us know they are okay!"
