can you suggest why carrots grown in well-drained, sandy soil have thickened up to expected size, but not grown more than 2 inches long. They are the organic Flyaway F1 hybrid, not shown on this website, obtained from Duchy Originals. They were sown in a propagator and planted out in early May. They are well spaced out and in a sunny position. Could frequency of watering have anything to do with it?

Hi, Kathryn, How deep and loose is the planting bed? Needs to be deep and loose to encourage long roots. Too much water will cause cracking, not stumpy growth. Kathy C.
