Hi,
I have had this tree for two years in a container. It got badly damaged by the frost last year but I pruned out the damaged branches and the surviving ones came back well. However, it remains bare on one side, no new shoots seem to have grown, and I now have a number of crossing branches. Is it advisable to prune them out? It's a lovely tree. I will be taking it indoors this winter!

    Hi, Ella,
    It is always best to remove crossing branches. According to the care instructions here on Shoot on when to prune, it is past the time to do so but if they are starting to rub other branches, take them out.

      Hi Kathy,
      Thanks for your post. Right enough I would err on the side of pruning crossing branches too, but in the care instructions this site provides for this tree, it states that it dislikes harsh pruning. Which seems to be true given theres no growth from or below the site of last years pruning...
      Any more ideas? I think I might go ahead and prune after a bit more of deliberation.
