I always like to prune things after they finish blooming. You tie the main stalk to the framework, then remove most of the side shoots that are thin right to the main leader that you have trained to the support or arbour, head back the ones of pencil thickness. Next year you will see growth on the nodes, this will produce your flowers. Remember every plant bears fruit or flowers on horizontal limbs
