Clematis cirrhosa 'Freckles'

I planted one of these in September last year and it put on a flush of flowers in October time but then didn’t flower in December/January as it should. Is it too late for me to prune it back? If not, should I prune back hard? It’s quite an unruly plant which I have to keep tying in.

Hi,
Absolutely! They really want full sun with the base in shade. Best to move when dormant, though.

I have one of each of these plants growing against a wall, they were both planted last year but did not flower this year. They are in sun and shade, they do not get full sun until the summer. They both have lots of leafy growth on them.
Would it be better to move them a sunnier position than where they are, to get them to flower?
