Curly leaf on Cornus Alba Sibirica

I planted a Cornus Alba Sibirica in early May. It flourished for a few weeks, then I saw it was covered in blackfly. I sprayed it with an organic pesticide and the blackfly are now gone. However, all the young leaves are curled over and look as of they are dying. Was it the blackfly or the pesticide that caused this? Should I now leave it to recover on its own or should I trim back the damaged parts?

    Hi, Mary,
    Would you be able to post a photo? Is it just the young leaves that are curled? Any older leaves okay? Is it putting on any new growth yet? Does the wood seem dead or just the leaves?

      I have tried to reply to this three times and add photos but nothing appears - no message, no photos. I'll try without the photos. There are photos in My Garden Notebook which you might be able to access. The older leaves look fine - it's only the younger ones that are curled and unhealthy-looking, but even the tiny leaves look as if they are coming through curled. The plant grew really well to start with but now growth has slowed dramatically, if not stopped altogether. The wood looks fine.
