HI can i plant this plant near conifers, i have a south facing garden so its really hot most of the time so am worried it wont survive in the full sun. please could you advise. regards margaret

    Lythrum salicaria grows wild in ditches and wetlands, so it tells you that it likes a lot of moisture. Conifers, depending on their size like good drainage, so you might have to make this call depending on your soil and its water retentive powers.

    I have this plant & grow it as a marginal in my small (6' × 4') pond. I don't think it would be suitable for dry areas. Conifers have fibrous roots that grow near the surface of the soil & therefore use up any moisture.
