when and how to split Electric pink cordyline

when and how to split Electric pink cordyline

Question from Shoot User

Hi I have just purchased this beautiful looking plant. it is in a 9cm pot from which the roots are appearing from the bottom, it appears to have 2 plants in it.

My question is would I be able to split the plant and repot in larger pots or would I need to repot as they are now.

I don't want to kill the plant so any advice would be useful

Thanks in advance

    Hi, Anne,
It sounds as if you have some suckers on your plant - a bonus - but also sounds like it is pot bound. It is best to remove suckers in early spring, but given the fact that yours sounds like it is in dire need of repotting, you can do it now. use a sharp, clean knife to sever the sucker (offshoot) from the base of the plant.
