witch hazel
please advise as to when I can move my Witch Hazel. Need to move it few feet further to back corner of border. my fault that border looks overcrowded and need to reposition shrubs slightly. Frighten to move as do not want to loose such a beautiful plant

I would wait till mid-Nov. or when it has dropped all its leaves, it is a big shrub, as witch hazels go, corylopsis pauciflora is a little smaller, not the fragrance though.

Thans for your reply. Just wondering would moving the shrub after leaves have fallen kill this winter flowering shrub as it is not dormant but producing light green furry capsules that will become the winter ribbon like flowers? Please advise further thank you.

You might lose the flowers for this winter, but the alternate is doing it in Feb. when it is either blooming or just finished. I don't mind losing flowers for one year, rather than the plant due to the summer heat.
