HI -Calimyrna is a 'smyrna' type of fig which will normally need pollinating by the fig wasp, sadly this little chap does not live in the UK and there is no way of hand pollinating these. Most if not all of the figs will drop before ripening.
Hi, Jules, Yes, remove those unriped figs. You'll want to prune soon, as well. Take a look at the plant page for [LINk=https://www.shootgardening.com/plant/ficus-carica-calimyrna?referrer=%2Fplant%2Fsearch%3Fq%3DFicus+carica+%27Calimyrna%27%26amp%3Bsearch_submit_x%3D18%26amp%3Bsearch_submit_y%3D17%26amp%3Buser_force_login_register%3D] 'Calimyrna' [/LINK]here on Shoot - it has all pruning advice and once you add this plant to your 'Plants I Have' list, you will enable full instructions on how and when to properly prune. All the best, Kathy C
I have a fig tree which is approx. 7 ft tall and now bare of leaves but with many small figs from last season which did not ripen. A) how do I maintain - do I need to remove all old fruit and B) how do I go about trimming/prunning to ensure healthier fruit this year?
