Evergreen Roses??

Evergreen Roses??

Question from Shoot User

Is there such a thing or a good alternative as I have a very large bank that I would like to produce a splendid show in summer and to be green in winter?

Rambling roses when not trained vertically can make excellent ground cover. These two Adelaide d’Orleans (Rambling Rose) and Félicité et Perpétue (Rambling Rose) are also pretty much evergreen.

I would recommend R. Adelaide d'Orleans, R. Alberic Barbier or R. Felicite Perpetue - all prolific flowering climbers which will cover a bank with semi-evergreen foliage that might just stay green all year round - there is no guaranteed evergreen rose.

Love Adelaide D'Orleans and believe it would suit our soil which is alkaline clay. Bank is 35 sq m so how many plants would you sugest?
