Cistus

Cistus

Question from Shoot User

I have a Cistus growing on my balcony and it's suddenly started dropping it's leaves and buds and has stopped flowering. I have tried watering it more and when that failed I've started to not water it very often. I don't really understand what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How often are you 'not watering very often'? Cistus will not enjoy being over watered. They require a very well drained soil. Is there adequate drainage in your container. I am assuming it's in a container on your balcony.
I over watered a Cistus hybrid a few weeks ago and it is only now just recovering. I haven't given it any water for at least 3 weeks.

      Hi Angie,

I used to water it thoroughly once a week but have now stopped that. The container seems to have adequate drainage and the soil is quite sandy. I haven't watered it for ten days now and I'll try not watering it for a further few weeks and hope that works. Thanks for your help.
