Acacia pravissima

Hi, Charles,
Acacia pravissima is an evergreen acacia so it falls into pruning group 8. This group of trees and shrubs should be pruned right after flowering. For A. parvissima that would probably be in late spring or early summer. Generally, these plants require very little pruning except the removal of unsightly or misplaced shoots or, as in your case, getting a bit out of hand. Never remove more than 1/3 of the total crown - particularly with acacias because they do not respond well to hard pruning. You can deadhead at the same time. I had a quick look at the plant page for Acacia pravissima here on Shoot and it looks as if it has all the care instructions, including when and how to prune, that you will need. If you haven't already, add this plant to your 'Plants I Have' list to get full, detailed instructions.
All the best,
Kathy C
