This year the panicles were the third of the size as last year's. Did I prune incorrectly. Would be grateful for advice as last year they looked spectacular. Thank you. Lou

    How did you prune it?
The usual trick with buddleia is to take it down to a third in the autumn so that winter winds don't rock the plant, then cut hard (near the bottom sprouting buds) in May. Did you do that?

Hello, yes last year I did cut it back to about one-third (its height is around 9ft) in February, and during the summer I continued to dead head and had new flushes of flowers (as I have done this year and quite recently too hoping for another flush of flowers before the end of the season). However, I didn't cut it down to almost ground level this May.
      Thank you, Lou
