Hello, I have had a libertia grandiflora for about 9 years and it flowered profusely until the last two years. I have cut back all the dead leaves but this has not made much difference this summer. Should I dig it up and divide it? Will that rejuvenate it? Can I do that now or should I waid until next spring? Or could I overwinter it in pots in a cold greenhouse? Any advice welcome. I do love it so being a Kiwi!

Hi, Catherine, It most likely is the lack of sun. Libertia like sun or partial shade which means they might be shaded for part of the day but will get direct sun for a morning or afternoon. Only other thought is it has been fed too much. Too much nitrogen will produce lots of lush foliage at the expense of flowers. Kathy C
I am very disappointed with my libertia as they have not flowered at all this year. They were newly planted last summer and I was hoping for some lovely flowers once they were established this summer. Unfortunately, although the leaves have grown profusely, I have not had one single flower. I put this down to the amount of rain we had over the summer and the relative lack of sunshine. I want to try and avoid a repetition next year and wonder whether there is anything I can do. Any tips welcome. Thanks.

This plant is evergreen, and so leaves are not usually pruned back other than removal of dead, damaged or tired looking leaves. Add to your ‘plants I have’ list to see care instructions for this time of year: Libertia grandiflora.
I have removed all the seed stems from the libertia grandiflora, snapped close to base and removed, should I cut the leaves back also, about 2/3rds of the height
