Tiny Black Specs

Tiny Black Specs

Question from Shoot User

I have noticed some tiny black specs on the underside of my mint leaves, since then I have seen them on the basil and sunflowers too. They seem to be surrounded by a milky substance, either that or the leaf is slighty thinner around the black dots. The dots are so small I can only see them because they are grouped. Does anyone know what these could be?

    Hi, Kalen,
It sounds like your mint is being attacked by a pest, possibly plant bug (yup, that is what it is called). The dots are damage from the plant sucking sap from the leaves.Check around for bugs/pests. If you are fairly certain this the culprit, you can get any number of chemical or organic sprays to deter them.
