Hi, again, Brian! For your Balkan clary, it depends on what your plant looks like right now. These plants tend to get leggy and develop 'open' spots as the season progresses. If it is looking tatty, you can cut it down to the new basal leaves. You might (though I think where you are this is a slim chance) get a weaker rebloom. Deadhead this and once these flowers are finished, cut back to new basal growth. Again, may sure plants are cut moist after you have cut them back. If you dont see the need to cut back now, remove the top growth in late autumn, leaving the low, new basal growth. If basal growth is damaged in winter, remove damaged bits when you start to see new growth in spring - this way you can tell the healthy from the dead. Hope this has been helpful! Kathy C.

Can anyone give me some pruing advice for this plant - do i cut it back to ground level at the end of the season or do i just cut off the flowering stems? I live in Glasgow
