I'm looking for a dense, vigorous, fully evergreen hedge to provide year round privacy. A portion of my garden is already hedged with Beech which is abou 8' high, but extending that would take too long to establish. I want something less boring and less greedy of the soil than Privet but I don't like varigated foliage. I'm thinking of the plain evergreen Elaeagnus X ebbingei which I thought would look good with its flashing leaves extending the existing beech hedge. The soil is well drained medium alkaline in sun with some light shade. Is this the species for me and what precisely should I be asking for when ordering? Thanks.
