I usually cut mine back by half in winter time and they come back ok. Give them a right good soak when new growth appears in spring - advice I was given when I first grew them.
Hi Gilly, I just took a look at our horticulturalists advice for this plant. We don't advice cutting to the ground at any time, just deadheading. They may well emerge again. I think all you can do is wait and hope the regrow. Kind regards, Nicola
ILast year I had some lovely Helleniums for first time. When they'd finished I cut them down to a few inches high. Now I'm worried after reading here that you can divide/stake/take cuttings in March and April but mine are only just showing from the earth! Have I done something wrong? Advice please? Thanks!

Oh no plant them right away, Dig a hole fill it with water, soak the plants roots in water and keep in the shade, then at dusk when it cools down ,plant and give it a thorough soaking, , keep an eye on it and keep on watering.
I have been given an Helenium Moerheim Beauty in a paper bag. Can I plant now or should I wait keep it in the bag in a cool dry place and wait until early Spring to plant it?
