Philadelphus coronarius 'Aureus'

Hi Penny,

Philadelphus aureus is not known for being particularly susceptible to any pests or diseases. It can suffer from powdery mildew but it doesn’t sound from what you say as if there’s any evidence of this? Has anything about the location of the plant changed recently that may be affecting its water or nutrient uptake? What are the soil and aspect conditions?

It would be interesting to see some photos if you are able to upload any for us. In the meantime I would try giving it a feed with some multi purpose fertiliser and keep well watered. If you’re a member of the RHS you could try sending a sample to their identification service.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Regards
Katy

i have a philadelphus aureus that is about 6 years old. it has suddenly began to wilt drastically and new leaves are stunted. there is no obvious signs of disease or pests on the leaves. one or two stems are unaffected but it does look very ill. does anyone one know what the problem might be?
