Hi, Steven, Your Yucca is borderline hardy - it may or may not handle the cold temperatures in Scotland. Having said that, where will it be planted if you put it in the ground? If it is a sheltered site, and you protect the plant with fleece or hessian stuffed with straw over the winter, it should do okay. If it is a shelterd spot, you could plant it this autumn (now if you make sure it gets some water in dry spells for the rest of the summer) or plant out in spring. If you want to put it in an exposed site where cold, drying winds and/or excessive winter moisture will get it, I wouldn't put it the ground at all. Kathy C.
I have purtchased a Yucca Rostrata for my garden, It's currently 20cm, I'm I best to plant it into the ground or would you suggest to keep it in a pot, if so, when do I take it out of the pot and plant it up. Also with the winters we have in Scotland, what's best to cover my new addition to my garden, I'm new to garden as well, so just finding my feet. thanks again
