Chilli jalapeno

My chillis were green - they have now turned partly black. Is this a stage to turning red as I believe they should?

Hi Judith, yes, they do get dark patches before they go red. For some reason, mine although beautifully red, have no heat at all, even in the seeds! All the best, Marissa
