Euonymus

Euonymus

Question from Shoot User

planted in an open border. Relatively new plant and have noticed that there are semi circular notches that have been nibbled off some of the leaves - no holes in the middle.

Does this sound like vine weevil damage?

A picture would be useful although your description does sound excactly like the damage I would expect to see if the vine weevil beetle had been at your plant.
The female beetle dies after she has laid her eggs - the developing larvae will have been feeding themselves on the roots during winter.
