'Freckles' is a large, evergreen climber with neat, finely-cut, mid-green leaves tinged bronze in winter. In late winter and early spring it bears pale-yellow flowers heavily speckled with maroon inside. It has attractive silky seed-heads in winter.

I planted one of these in September last year and it put on a flush of flowers in October time but then didn’t flower in December/January as it should. Is it too late for me to prune it back? If not, should I prune back hard? It’s quite an unruly plant which I have to keep tying in.
I have one of each of these plants growing against a wall, they were both planted last year but did not flower this year. They are in sun and shade, they do not get full sun until the summer. They both have lots of leafy growth on them. Would it be better to move them a sunnier position than where they are, to get them to flower?
