Cultivation

In frost-free areas, grow in deep, humus-rich, preferably neutral, well-drained soil in a sheltered, sunny site. Needs protection from strong winds. Avoid waterlogged conditions, even short periods of flooding can be fatal. Best grown at elevations below 1,500m (0-4,900'). A short-lived plant, often leaving only five years. Under glass, grow in loam-based compost in full light with shade from hot sun. In growth, water freely & feed monthly; sparingly in winter.
