Symptoms - A silver sheen can be seen on woody plant foliage, or on
closer inspectation brown stains in the wood tissue. Discoloured
foliage may appear on only one or two branches, which then begin to
die back. Fruit may develop on dead wood, forming small, purple or
brown structures covered in a white wool or fuzz. The spores
produced cause new infections, occurring in fruit trees from
September to May.
Please note: Silvering may also result from severe insect
infestation, cold weather conditions, extreme drought or
malnutrition.
