F. polycarpa is an arching, evergreen shrub with brown-hairy juvenile stems, large, palmate, dark green leaves divided into up to eleven, oblong to elliptic, toothed lobes and, in early winter, spherical umbels of small, creamy-white flowers followed by black fruit.
