Achimenes

Achimenes is a genus of about 25 species of tropical and subtropical rhizomatous perennials. It has dark-green, scalloped, ovate leaves that have soft hairs. It produces trumpet shaped flowers in summer. The genus is native to Mexico and Central America, with one species called A. erecta occurring naturally in the West Indies.
