Phytolacca is a genus of approximately 30 species of perennials, shrubs, and trees from subtropical and tropical woodland or fields in Africa, Asia, and the Americas with ovate to elliptic leaves and panicles or racemes of tiny, cup-shaped, petalless flowers followed by spherical fruit.
