Puya

Puya is a genus of over 170 species of terrestrial, evergreen bromeliads from rocky slopes in Central and South America with rosettes of coarse, spiny, linear leaves and panicles of bell- or trumpet-shaped flowers in a variety of colours. Branches of the flower panicles act as perches for hummingbird pollinator. Flowers are followed by green fruit capsules containing winged seeds.
