'Red Obelisk' is an upright, columnar, deciduous tree with ovate to elliptic, toothed, dark green leaves, bronze in spring, turning yellow in autumn. In spring, clusters of pink buds opening to white or pale pink flowers are followed by small, conical, edible, red fruit in autumn.

Cultivation

Prefers moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun but will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions as well as partial shade. Fruit persist into winter. Mature height is determined by rootstock. Self-fertile but fruit production is best with another crab apple cultivar. Flowering/pollination group 4 (D).
