Symptoms
If there is an infestation, a coarse pale mottling appears on the
upper leaf surface of many glasshouse and houseplants. If the
infestation is severe the leaves may appear chlorotic and resemble
a mineral deficiency. The damaged leaves will remain discoloured,
but new growth develops normally once the pest has been
controlled.
Spot them
Adult leafhoppers are 3mm long, light-yellow in colour with greyish
markings. They are broad at the head end and taper to a point
behind. Adults will jump off leaves and fly short distances when
disturbed. The creamy white wingless nymphs are much less active
and often easier to spot.
