Is somebody out there? Please help if you can. Have a new hydrangea in a huge pot and it is now starting to show signs of leaves wilting\dying. Not far from part of garden I think is sick but still it's in it's own new compost. What's going on. It's breaking my heart. Not in sun enough to be scorched. Guessing some sort of fungus or bacteria. What is the treatment?
I am struggling with the hydrangeas in my garden. They seem to get some sort of blight and leaves curl and die. I have cut one back to nearly nothing and it's come back good but now starting to show the signs again. I think the ground is sick with some sort of fungal disease. What can I do?

The best time to attack these is immediately on hatching (nymphs will emerge from these scales). Whilst still cocooned inside the scales they are fairly protected from anything you spray them with, so this is likely to be why your efforts have had little effect up until now. The hatching is typically midsummer, so should be happening anytime soon – keep your eye on things. A soapy spray should do the trick once the time comes.
