Raspberry beetle

Raspberry beetle

Symptoms
Damaged berries dry up at the stalk end and turn grey-brown.

Spot them
Adult beetles, 4mm long, are brown and lay eggs on flowers in May to June. At first the young larvae feed at the stalk end of the developing fruit, but then later move inside to feed on the central plug. A brownish-white grub, up to 8mm (0.33in) long, may be found inside the fruit.
